Wild rice, despite the name, isn't actually a rice; although a close relative, it's a different type of whole grain. Wild rice has a chewier texture and stronger taste as well as a higher protein content than brown rice, the most nutritious type of rice. Many cooks prefer to mix wild rice with other types of rice rather than eating it alone. You can also mix eggs, tofu, vegetables or any combination for a more substantial dish. There is no one right way to cook fried wild rice, so experiment with different additions, oils and seasonings.
