GE, or genetically engineered, alfalfa is a plant designed as a commercial feed crop for dairy and beef cattle. The crop is resistant to certain pesticides such as glyphosate, also known as Roundup. This feed crop has come under fire because of concerns that it exposes the animals you eat to unnecessary pesticides. As a result, the use of GE alfalfa has caused a rift within the organic food producers community.
