How to Freeze & Store Fresh Berries

Berries are the fruits of summer, and they have a short growing season. When you freeze them properly, you can continue to enjoy them after the regular season ends. Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries are good sources of vitamin C, fiber and powerful antioxidants. Freezing helps to preserve these valuable nutrients. Unlike home canning, the process of freezing berries does not require cooking unless you choose to prepare them in advance for recipes that involve baking. Once properly frozen, berries keep their flavor for up to a year, according to the Ohio State University Extension Service.
