How to Dehydrate Butternut Squash

Butternut squash is a flavorful, nutritious squash harvested in late summer or early autumn. When properly dried, packaged and stored, butternut squash retains its fiber content and much of the vitamins and minerals. An electric dehydrator is preferred because oven temperatures are usually too hot, resulting in squash that is moist inside, but hard and dry on the outside. Drying requires 10 to 16 hours, depending on the method used and the size of the squash.
